Dr. med. Kathrin De Beer – Specialist in Internal Medicine
My journey

How I became a fibromyalgia specialist

I am Dr. med. Kathrin De Beer — Specialist in Internal Medicine, Nutritional Medicine and Psychotherapy. During my specialist training, alongside instructive placements in gastroenterology, cardiology and pulmonology, I also worked for a period in South Africa. Encountering patients in very different life situations profoundly shaped my holistic perspective on chronic conditions.

My first experience in fibromyalgia therapy came in 2011 at Klinikum Westfalen in their multimodal pain therapy unit. At that time, I decided that I wanted to improve care for those affected in the long term — because many patients had told me about a lengthy ordeal and what felt like an endless journey from one doctor to the next.

I completed my additional training in behavioural therapy in 2016, and since 2018 I have also been qualified in nutritional medicine. Since 2019 I have been working as a specialist physician at MVZ Dr. Kretzmann & Kollegen, where fibromyalgia and chronic pain conditions form my clinical focus. In my daily work, I always look at the whole picture: body, nutrition, mind and life circumstances.

Because I want to reach even more people affected by fibromyalgia, FibroCoach was born — a medically developed online programme that offers you clear information, regular guidance and practical help for everyday life with fibromyalgia.

FibroCoach

Why I founded FibroCoach

In my clinical work, I have heard similar stories again and again: patients who for years were not taken seriously with their pain. Doctors who did not know about fibromyalgia or dismissed it outright. People who felt left alone — without a diagnosis, without a treatment plan, without community.

FibroCoach is my answer to that: a programme that brings specialist medical knowledge directly to people — in an accessible way, regularly and available at any time from any location. If you want to learn more about fibromyalgia and take an active role in your care, you do not need to wait months for a doctor's appointment. My guidance through FibroCoach helps you to understand your condition and your body better — together with other people who are also living with fibromyalgia.

I support you with the same standards I apply in my practice — but from anywhere.
